ABS Issues SUSTAIN-1 Notation for FPSO ONE GUYANA
The Second FPSO to Meet United Nations’ Sustainability Requirements
(HOUSTON) ABS issued its SUSTAIN-1 notation to ONE GUYANA, a Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit designed, built and operated by SBM Offshore.
The notation signifies that the FPSO complies with the requirements in the vessel sustainability program developed by ABS to help fleets meet the environmental and human elements contained in the strategic Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from the United Nations.
ONE GUYANA joins other FPSOs in the ExxonMobil Guyana fleet to address SDGs in its design and operation, including the Liza Unity, the first FPSO to receive the ABS SUSTAIN-1 and SUSTAIN-2 notations.
“We are proud to support our clients by providing guidance that helps them integrate environmental, social and governance considerations into their projects. This achievement marks another terrific milestone for the ExxonMobil Guyana FPSO fleet,” said Matthew Tremblay, ABS Senior Vice President, Global Offshore.
The ONE GUYANA FPSO is owned by ExxonMobil Guyana Limited and operated by SBM Offshore. It was built for ExxonMobil’s Stabroek Block development in Guyana.
“Building on Liza Unity and Prosperity’s success, ONE GUYANA shows how continued innovation and leading environmental performance support economic development, helping to meet the world’s energy demands with lower emissions,” said Alistair Routledge, President, ExxonMobil Guyana.
Alexander Glenn, Chief Operating Officer at SBM Offshore said: “The ABS SUSTAIN‑1 notation for ONE GUYANA reflects SBM Offshore’s continued commitment to embedding sustainability into our FPSO designs and operations. This achievement underscores the strong collaboration between SBM Offshore, ExxonMobil Guyana, and ABS—as together we advance responsible energy production. ONE GUYANA’s performance is another important milestone in our journey toward safer, and more efficient offshore operations.”
